Dan Bruggerman's artwork is pieces of the outdoors in Minnesota. He takes a picture of something he finds interesting outside and then draws and/or paints that. My artwork shows man made and natural worlds colliding by having the man made the lighthouse and the natural being lake Suppirior and the sky. I think this place has been enhanced by the changes because the light house adds character to the lake.

The "thinking drawing" is what Wayne Thiebaud calls his sketches. Thinking drawings help him figure out how to make interesting or dynamic compositions. His preparatory sketches help him figure out the backgrounds, balances, colors, and objects he wants to use in his artwork so when he creates his final artwork it looks just how he would like it. In the artwork "Rows of Ties" the tie on the right differs from the rest because it is more spaced out than the rest of the ties and the other ties have straight lines and the tie on the right has curvy lines. I think the artist separates this tie from the others because it sticks out more and it helps create balance in the drawing.
My artwork is a softball with a softball field as a background and also home plate as part 0f the background. The most obvious principal in my artwork is stretch and explore because i tried using mod podge to seal the chalk pastel but then after it dried i ended up not liking it but it was too late to restart so now i know not to do that in the future. I created my artwork by choosing an object to draw, closely observing it and drawing and revising it multiple times in my sketchbook. Once i knew what i wanted to do i started drawing mt object on final draft paper and got some new ideas along the way like adding a dirt field and grass as the background. The big idea behind my artwork is how i felt about this object. i play and enjoy softball so i thought i would somehow try to create an artwork that shows something about the game softball and i thought it would be cool to have home plate behind a softball and then i adventually got the idea to add a softball field in for the background. Some goals i had for this artwork was just to try my best and come up with something that i liked. i did achieve this goal somewhat, i liked my drawing but after adding mod podge i didn't really like the result so i definitely learned something from this artwork. My thoughts of my overall artwork are pretty good, the only thing i would change about it is adding the mod podge at the end and i would maybe chose something other than chalk pastels if i did this again because it didnt fill in the black how i would of liked it too and it was super messy.
